Advanced Warfare Ranked Play Overview

Do you feel like you’re the cream of the crop when it comes to online Call of Duty players? Well, Advanced Warfare has a place where you can prove your skills to the world. It’s a playlist called Rank Play. It’s designed for more competitive players and teams that want to show everyone just how badass they are.

Ranked Play Rules

So, just how does this playlist work? Well, it matches you and/or your teammates with similarly skilled players in 4v4 competitive matches. Each match consists of an objective-based gametype such as Hardpoint or Capture the Flag. These game modes work exactly like the standard playlist equivalent but have eSports settings enabled.

eSports rules vary a bit depending on what gametype you’re playing. Below we’ve provided a breakdown of the general settings that apply to every match and then the specific rules that apply to each gametype that is played.

NOTE: We will be providing full coverage of BO3 competitive gaming as well. We’ve already developed an awesome Black Ops 3 guide that will help gamers dominate in multiplayer. More coming soon.

Ranked Play Divisions

For each season of Ranked Play gamers will be able to compete for spots within 7 different divisions. These divisions represent overall player skill and also determine the opponents you’ll face off against.

 Advanced Warfare Ranked Play Divisions

Here are the divisions in descending order:

  • Grand Master (Reserved for Top 100 Overall Players)
  • Master
  • Diamond
  • Platinum
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze

In order to climb the ranks and reach higher tier divisions players have to participate in Ranked Play games during the season (generally 3-4 weeks long) and win matches. Every win will give players a set amount of points that contribute to their division rank. If you lose a match, however, you will lose points.

Generally speaking, if you win a match you’ll typically be awarded 15 to 25 points. Losing a match will deduct roughly 10 to 20 points each time. Each division has a total of 100 points. Once you reach 100 points you’ll be required to participate in a Division Promotion Challenge where you have to win enough matches (2-3 out of 3) to get promoted to the next tier.

Ranked Play Division Gear

The developers at Sledgehammer Games have gone above and beyond the call of duty (ha, punny!) to give players even more incentive to participate in this competitive game mode. On top of getting a fancy division title players will also receive a special set of gear that represents the division they’re in.

Advanced Warfare Ranked Play Division Gear

These gear items vary wildly in style from fairly basic to incredibly extravagant. The most interesting of which is the Grand Master gear we mentioned a while back. This particular set is given only to the top 100 players overall. So, in order to get it, you’ll truly have to be the best of the best.

Ranked Play Seasons

As mentioned above, Ranked Play is setup to be played in seasons. The first season is set to begin on January 9th and extends through January 31st. Following season dates have not been announced but will be posted on this page once the information is available.
