As with nearly every Call of Duty game released to date, Advanced Warfare offers players several different gametypes to participate in. These modes vary quite a bit but are most often based on obtaining kills or securing objectives. In all, there are currently 23 different game modes in CoD: AW. They can be separated into 4 categories: public, hardcore, classic, and co-op.
Public Gametypes
The public game modes are the standard set of multiplayer gametypes. A lot of these have been featured in almost every CoD game. Some fan-favorites from titles such as Black Ops 2 and World at War have also made their way into the mix.
Here are all of the public modes:
- Team Deathmatch
- Kill Confirmed
- Capture the Flag
- Search and Rescue
- Momentum
- Uplink
- Hardpoint
- Search and Destroy
- Domination
- Infected
- Free-For-All (FFA)
- Combat Readiness Program
- Ground War (Xbox One, PS4, and PC only)
- Atlas Gorge
All of these are available across all platforms with the exception of Ground War, which involves more players on-screen at the same time, something that last-gen consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox 360 are incapable of handling smoothly.
Hardcore Game Modes
For players that prefer to play with more strategy than run-and-gun tactics there are hardcore gametypes available. These are identical to the public counterparts except players have minuscule health which means it takes far less shots to die.
Here are the hardcore modes available in Advanced Warfare:
- HC TDM
- HC KC (Kill Confirmed)
- HC Domination
- HC Search & Destroy
These modes are all available on every console and PC.
Classic
Classic game modes were added to AW to help soothe the woes of players that were disheartened to hear that characters would have superhuman-like capabilities via the new exo suits. In the classic playlist you won’t have to worry about these supernatural abilities affecting you, though, because the gametypes within the classic list will involve a more traditional gameplay style featuring nothing more than your weapons, lethals, killstreaks, and tactical equipment.
So if you don’t want to boost around and jump with superman strength here are the gametypes available in the classic playlist:
- Team Deathmatch
- Kill Confirmed
- Search and Destroy
- Domination
Yes, it is a bit limited in selection, but Sledgehammer does want you to eventually take the exo suit for a spin.
Co-Op
Sick of being called a whiny, camping, piece of trash by gamers you don’t even know or care to listen to? Well, you could always mute them, but you can also take an alternate route and just play with 1 to 3 of your good friends in a cooperative game mode.
Here’s the only one available at this time:
- Exo Survival
This is a pretty traditional horde-type game mode where up to 4 players can face off against waves of AI enemies til death or the grande finale after 25 grueling rounds.
